Shortly after the resort’s opening, the Prodivers team discovered a fabulous reef that our divers as well as snorkellers now frequently visit thanks to its seemingly resident sea turtle population. Aptly named Turtle Rock, the location is a fantastic addition to the assortment of coral reefs accessible from Innahura.
As turtles go about their business with about zero consideration for our guests’ whereabouts, we obviously can’t guarantee sightings, but our so far best occasion saw a whopping 48 hawksbill turtles within a single dive. Even without turtles around the reef is still great: schools of batfish, snappers, blacktip reef Sharks, octopus, grey Reef Sharks, nurse sharks, eagle rays, tuna, jackfish and more.
The good news is that Turtle Rock is easily accessible by boat from the resort and is suitable for certified and also Discover Scuba Diving and course divers, and snorkellers of any experience.
This discovery confirms that Lhaviyani Atoll is truly a place that not only guests but also sea turtles like! While the north, the area around our sister property, Kuredu, hosts the Maldives’ largest population of green sea turtles, hopes are high that perhaps with future discoveries the reefs around our resort are proclaimed the country’s best place to swim with hawksbills – flippers crossed!
