Swimming with Turtles at Innahura Maldives
If you dream of swimming with turtles and happen to be heading to Innahura Maldives for your holiday, be sure to go snorkelling or scuba diving at Turtle Rock. This underwater pinnacle formation is easily accessible by boat from the resort, and seems to be the perfect resting place for dozens of hawksbill turtles. Turtle Rock is suitable for certified divers and also Discover Scuba Diving particpants and course divers, as well as snorkellers.
Although we are very lucky and can encounter turtles daily, it is important to remember that these incredible creatures are in fact endangered worldwide. Interactions with turtles (and all other marine life) need to be responsible and respectful so as not to cause distress or interfere with the turtles’ natural behaviour. The Olive Ridley Project (ORP), a charity with whom we proudly cooperate, have put together a code of conduct on how to swim with turtles that we should follow in all our encounters.
