On Saturday, 18th September 2021, the team and guests at Innahura Maldives Resort joined millions of others across the globe for the annual Clean Up the World event. Established in 1993 and is one of the largest community-based environmental programs in the world with more than 130 countries taking part and we were proud to have joined them. The aim is to inspire the global population of planet Earth to tread lightly, clean up and conserve the planet with a massive effort to combat waste and plastic pollution.
Over 30 team members, 5 guests, as well as Steve from the dive centre, joined forces scouring the island’s beaches and vegetation for any debris washed up by the ocean currents. 20 bags were collected, preventing the debris from causing harm to marine life and other wildlife on land. Volunteers, who finished their area quite quickly, offered to clean up our very special Loabi Island too, another jumbo bag of rubbish was removed from the environment. What an amazing effort – thank you to all who were involved!
Care for the environment lies at the heart of Innahura and it was great to see our guests and team members taking an active part in this year’s event – local actions really do make a global difference.
